For violin, cello and vibraphone (2016)

“Music of imaginary beings” (Musique des êtres imaginaires) is a staged-concert conceived by Arturo Fuentes in 2016 and commissioned by the Lucilin Ensemble of Luxembourg. Inspired by the Fantastic Zoology of the writer Jorge Luis Borges, each one of the seven works of this mise-en-scène reveals to us an imaginary sonorous world. In Squonk the high frequencies produced by the vibraphone and the strings of violin and cello reveal us the weeping of that fantastic animal described by Borges: “a creature capable of evading capture by dissolving completely into a pool of tears and bobbles when cornered”. Somehow, may also say that this music dissolves itself in tears formed by delicate harmonic lines.
