CONCERT NOTE
Kraken
“Music of imaginary beings” (Musique des êtres imaginaires) is a staged-concert conceived by Arturo Fuentes in 2016 and commissioned by the Lucilin Ensemble of Luxembourg. Inspired by the Fantastic Zoology of the writer Jorge Luis Borges, each one of the seven works of this mise-en-scènereveals to us an imaginary sonorous world. Krakenis the opening piece of the whole performance, where the dark and hidden sounds produced by the cello and the marimba are suggesting us the deep waters where the Kraken lives: a creature like a dark octopus with long arms, always “dreaming a dream without dreams”, quoting Borges.
